The following Agent Alert was sent January 26, 2012.

Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude.

Dear Agents,

We're so excited to see plenty of fresh reports rolling in! Some of your reports are put up on the website - you can click on the hyperlinked ones to read what your fellow agents have been doing, and to get ideas on how to work on your own reports. Here, for example, is a report from Lydia S. on Research on Justice. Keep an eye out - your report could end up on the website, as well!

Remember, as you're submitting your reports, to keep an eye on the formatting. You all received a Sample Report in your original packet. Any report you submit needs to look just like that, including margins. I'm going to get a little technical here and explain this. The following list covers formatting that is already shown in your Sample Report.

  • You should not 'tab' the first sentence in a paragraph. All the lines should start in the same place when you look at the finished product. Always put only one line between paragraphs. This includes interviews.
  • 12 pt maximum font in Times New Roman or Arial. Courier New will give an inaccurate picture of the lengtth of the report.
  • Don't double-space the "Name, Mission, Report, Date Submitted" information at the top of the page. Everything in the report should be single-spaced. Remember to right-align the information section if you can.
  • As a reference, shoot for having only a 1" margin on all sides. This includes the bottom. In order to be the proper length, your report techincally needs to be a minimum of one inch from the bottom of the page. This does not apply to Letters to the Editor, which should be submitted using this form.
  • We want you to succeed and don't want to be TOO picky, but sometimes we will send a report back for edits, especially if the report is too short. It is almost impossible for a report to be too long, so don't be afraid to go for that little bit extra!

Attention to detail is an important life skill to have. Do what you can to practice it now!

MISSION: TACTICS - PROMOTE SSI

Now would be an excellent time to start work on your Promote SSI project. This will involve you setting up a space of time with your church or another organization or place and preparing something to say. We are more than happy to help you as much as we can, so contact us 1-2 weeks before your event for brochures, promotional videos, etc. You could even show YouTube clips at your presentation!

Don't forget to register yourself for SSI, and soon! We want to see ALL of you there.

Carpe diem!
