The following Agent Alert was sent February 8, 2012.

No matter how carefully you plan your goals, they will never be more than pipe dreams unless you pursue them with gusto.

Dear Agents,

Last time I talked very briefly about the "Promote SSI" project. Let's talk at a little more length about that assignment.

  • First of all, what is your objective? To interest people in SSI and its mission. This could take the form of influencing peers to come as students or, as some Agents have done in the past, raising funds for Financial Aid and other SSI projects. You will be presenting persuasive information as to why SSI is a good program and why others should support it.
  • What is your setting? You can do your official Promote SSI in a myriad of arenas. Talk to your youth pastor to present to the youth group, or to your pastor to present to the whole church! Present to your homeschool group, your scout group, your 4-H group, a political group, anywhere that you think there will be people who should hear about SSI.
  • How do you do it? The obvious choice is standing up and talking about the program, and handing out brochures. Think outside the box, though. Is there media capability? Play our promotional DVD or other videos from our YouTube channel. Put together a photo presentation based on your SSI experience. Most importantly, make it personal: tell your audience what SSI means to you. You can even ask me to come to your group and supplement your presentation by speaking! (Email me to discuss details.)
  • Check out the promotions page on our website to see if there is anything there that you can use or that will give you ideas for your presentation.
  • Remember that you cannot fulfill the Promote SSI assignment simply by being present at a booth or handing out brochures to a few individuals.

This is a required assignment whether you're shooting for Agent status or full-out Special Agent. While your sample schedule suggest doing this in April, in reality, now is the ideal time to promote the program and emphasize getting registrations in by the March 31 Early Registration Deadline. If you wind up recruiting 10 or more students to register together, you may even be eligible for the group discount! Check out the Group FAQs for more information.

Once you decide what you want to do, contact Elizabeth at least a week beforehand to request the amount of brochures you think you'll need and the promotional DVD. Don't forget to have your verification form signed at the event! We look forward to hearing from you very soon.

SSI will have a booth at this book fair all day long, and we would love to have some alumni to help staff it! Again, contact Mr. Visscher for more details.
