Ambassador League
A one year, Biblical worldview and Leadership Development Experience
For the many SSI alumni eager to put their newfound vision into practice, the Ambassador League Program provides just the focus they need.
Described as a Christian Statesman's version of the Eagle Scout program, the Ambassador League engages the student in a one-year quest to complete a number of assignments while establishing a mentor relationship with an adult to oversee their progress.
Students are required to read, research, observe and take action. They earn points toward their goal by accomplishing assignments such as completing word studies in scripture, writing letters to the editor, attending local government meetings, interviewing and shadowing local leaders from various occupations and volunteering time for non-profit organizations and campaigns. Each project is designed to develop leadership skills while applying the principles learned at SSI. Students will regularly receive the Ambassador Alert - an email newsletter reporting on each student's progress.
Mission: Tactics
Agent Packet - Mission: Tactics
Each “Agent” is required to submit a summary of his or her SSI experience, as well as find a mentor and meet with him or her six times throughout the year. The final assignment to be turned in is a report on the Ambassador League experience.
"I have a stronger command on how to put my faith into words and I have seen the effects of this new-found knowledge whenever the issue of religion is raised. I have never felt so comfortable or confident in discussing: my faith in Jesus Christ and the effect it has had on my life." - Theresa S., SSI Alumna and Ambassador League Agent
Mission: Reading
Agent Packet - Mission: Reading
Agents have the opportunity to report on several excellent books, including God’s Politician by Garth Lean, Why I Am A Christian by Norman Geisler, Roaring Lambs by Bob Briner, Lifeviews by R.C. Sproul, and What If Jesus Had Never Been Born? by D. James Kennedy.
“I can imagine a world where people open a newspaper and begin to read about current events reported from the perspective of truth based on the Bible. I can imagine a world where people who have never heard the good news begin to hear because of the presence of Christians in the television and news industries.” - Agent Christi S., after reading Roaring Lambs
Mission: Research
Agent Packet - Mission: Research
Biblical study changes lives. It’s as simple as that. To complete research missions, agents earn
points for studying a variety of issues: Lordship of Christ, God’s Mercy, Justice, Self-government
& Self-control, Civil Government, Sanctity of Marriage, Sanctity of Life, Homosexuality, Absolute
Truth, Ten Commandments and The Nature of Man.
“As Christians, we are subject to God’s rule. Since He has ordained rulers to carry out his decrees on the earth, we are to submit to them as well. Our submission is one way of showing the world that we are Christians.” - Agent Monica R., after studying Scripture about Civil Government
Mission: Observe
Agent Packet - Mission: Observe
Some of the most interesting activities in which the agents participate include shadowing a local leader, attending local judicial trials and observing legislative and committee sessions at the capitol.
“I learned a lot about the criminal justice system, but I know there is a lot I can still learn. By going and learning about this type of career, it really makes me more appreciative of the time and effort it takes to keep our town safe.” - Agent Danielle K., after shadowing Mr. Kreh of the Van Buren county parole/probation office
Mission: Take Action
Agent Packet - Mission: Take Action
Assignments include writing letters to the editor, interviewing local leaders and volunteering for
non-profit or community service organizations or political campaigns. Agents from all over Michigan
are serious about taking action in their communities. And much to our delight, most are promoting
SSI to their friends, Christian schools and youth groups. The Ambassador League provides the
framework for SSI alumni to put what they learned into practice, and they’re doing it!
“The Ambassador League is teaching me a lot about government that I never learned in class! Now I am out experiencing things and actually learning by doing!” - Agent Scott V.
