Ambassador League

A one year, Biblical Worldview and Leadership Development Experience

Amabassador League Agents enjoy themselves at the SSI Annual Banquet.

For the many SSI alumni eager to put their newfound vision into practice, the Ambassador League Curriculum provides just the focus they need.

Described as a Christian Statesman's version of the Eagle Scout program, the Ambassador League course engages the student in a one-year quest to complete a number of assignments while establishing a mentor relationship with an adult to oversee their progress.

Students are required to read, research, observe and take action. They earn points toward their goal by accomplishing assignments such as completing word studies in scripture, writing letters to the editor, attending local government meetings, interviewing and shadowing local leaders from various occupations and volunteering time for non-profit organizations and campaigns. Each project is designed to develop leadership skills while applying the principles learned at SSI. Students will regularly receive the Ambassador Alert - an email newsletter reporting on each student's progress. Each student who completes the course and achieves "Agent" or "Special Agent" status will receive an award at the SSI Annual Banquet held each fall.

Below are the five Missions required to complete the course.

Mission: Tactics

Special Agent Elizabeth D. recieves her award at the SSI Annual Banquet.

Agent Packet - Mission: Tactics

Each "Agent in training" is required to submit a summary of his or her SSI experience, as well as find a mentor and meet with him or her six times throughout the year. Promoting the Summer Program to a group is also required under this section. The final assignment to be turned in is a report on the Ambassador League experience.

"I can’t point to a specific time when it happened, but as I sit here today, I realize that I am a much different person than I was when I took on the commitment of the Ambassador's League. Somewhere between the time when I wrote my first paper and as I now write my Final Report, I changed. The way I hear and see the world has become different. And, most importantly, the way I choose to react to the culture has changed. I no longer sit on my couch complaining about the deteriorating society. I have been trained to be act—write, serve, donate, contribute. I am an ambassador for Christ."
– Brooke R., SSI Alumna and John Quincy Adams award winner

Mission: Reading

Agent Packet - Mission: Reading

Agents have the opportunity to report on several excellent books, including Do Hard Things by Alex & Brett Harris, God's Politician by Garth Lean, Lifeviews by R.C. Sproul, Roaring Lambs by Bob Briner, What If Jesus Had Never Been Born? by D. James Kennedy, and Why I Am A Christian by Norman Geisler.

"I can look at the list of things accomplished because of Christianity, and almost miss the truth. Jesus did not come to give us better physical lives, He came to give us new life. Without such spiritually, we would be nothing but animals. Kennedy explains much about the rituals and practices of those days past. Words cannot begin to describe the atrocities that were common and accepted in earlier times. Considering the horrors of yesterday and today, this book left me with a sobering thought: if Jesus had never been born would the world still be here?"
Nathan K. after reading What if Jesus Had Never Been Born?

Mission: Research

Agent Packet - Mission: Research

Doing Research Biblical study changes lives. It's as simple as that. To complete research missions, agents earn points for studying a variety of issues: Lordship of Christ, God's Mercy, Justice, Self-government & Self-control, Civil Government, Sanctity of Marriage, Sanctity of Life, Homosexuality, Absolute Truth, Ten Commandments and The Nature of Man.

"His commandments and decrees remain the same yesterday, today, and forever. Even the promises to those who believe will never change. Salvation is still promised unto us today as it was in the days of Adam. Let us bow down and worship this Lord of all."
– David H. after studying the Scriptures on the Lordship of Christ

Mission: Observe

Agent Packet - Mission: Observe

Sean M. observes a legislative committee meeting at the Capitol.

Some of the most interesting activities in which the agents participate include shadowing a local leader, attending local judicial trials and observing legislative and committee sessions at the Capitol.

"I’ve decided that it is worse to convict the innocent than acquit the guilty. After all, the guilty can always be caught and charged again. If they continue in sin they will only strengthen the web they are trapped in, as well as future evidence against them. As for the innocent, once charged, they can never go back. They could lose their friends, their jobs, the trust of their family, and if married they could possibly lose their spouse as well. Because of this realization, I find myself respecting the concept of "beyond reasonable doubt" as well as the other precautions taken in court more than ever before. I don’t know of a better way that the branches of government could have been founded."
– Paul P. after observing a local judicial trial

Mission: Take Action

Agent Packet - Mission: Take Action

2008-2009 Ambassador League Special Agent
David H. spends a day at the Capitol with State Senator Mark Jansen. Assignments include writing letters to the editor, interviewing local leaders and volunteering for non-profit or community service organizations or political campaigns. Agents from all over Michigan are serious about taking action in their communities. And much to our delight, most are promoting SSI to their friends, Christian schools and youth groups. The Ambassador League provides the framework for SSI alumni to put what they learned into practice, and they're doing it!

"Working in the election this year opened my eyes to see the importance of getting involved. It has given me a better understanding of our government system and the work our founding fathers and every great statesman since, has put into it. I have learned many things through this experience, but the most important lesson is that government without Christ as the center is corrupt and worthless and will eventually fail."
– Grace H. after volunteering for a political campaign
