Biblical Research on "Justice"

Justice means to "have the quality of being guided by truth, reason, and fairness." We serve a just God. In this great country that we live in, we have a very fair government system. The goal of our courts is to bring justice to the citizens. One of the ways they achieve this is by the jury system. Any registered voter can be called in to serve on the jury.

Whether we are on a jury or not, we as Christians need to be able to practice justice when deciding things. But how do we do this? We know from the Bible that God is just.

Psalm 9:16 - "The LORD is known for his justice. Wicked trapped by their own deeds."

Psalm 11:7 - "For the righteous LORD loves justice. The virtuous will see his face."

Psalm 37:27-28 - "For the LORD loves justice, and he will never abandon the godly. He will keep them safe forever, but the children of the wicked will die."

The Lord loves justice. The Lord is known for His justice. If we want to know how to be people that are just, all we need to do is follow the Lord's example that He has set for us.

Proverbs 28:5 - "Evil people do not understand justice, but those who follow the Lord understand it completely."

The Lord commands us to be just people. In Isaiah, He speaks of this requirement. To love is to obey. If we love Christ, we will obey Him always.

Isaiah 56:1 - "This is what the LORD says: "Give justice to all people, and do what is right, because my salvation will come to you soon. Soon everyone will know that I do what is right."

Justice is a way that we can be an example for Christ. It is a way that we can show God's characteristics to a secular world.

Proverbs 21:15 - "Justice is a joy to the godly, but it terrifies evildoers."

This is also something to keep in mind during election season. We need judges who are just in order to protect our world for Christ.
