Biblical Research on "Sanctity of Life"
Psalm 139:14 - "I praise you because you made me in an amazing and wonderful way."
When we look in the first chapter of Genesis, when God created the world, He said the same thing about almost everything He created - "It is good." But when He created man in Genesis 1:31, He said something different - "It is very good." After that, God went on to put humans in charge of every thing on earth. He made us number one. God obviously thought that man was the most important creation on earth.
As I showed in the opening verse, God made us in an amazing way. In Genesis 1:27, it says that God created us in His image. It is so incredible to think about how God, the creator of the universe made us in his image.
James 3:9 - ".God made people like Himself."
We can see from all of this that man is very important to God. Sometimes, we may feel insignificant with everything that goes on around us. And also when we think about how huge our universe is - we may feel very small. But God loves each and every one of us and desires to have a personal relationship with every person. He made us all in a special and unique way and He cares for everyone.
Exodus 20:13 - "You shall not murder."
This commandment goes for everyone. Abortion is murder. It is killing tiny, innocent children and taking away the great life that they could have had.
Psalm 139:13 - "You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb."
Jeremiah 1:4, 5 - "Then the word of the Lord came to me saying: 'Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you.'"
This verse shows that even when we were still babies in our mother's womb, God was already taking care of us - He loved each one of us even before we were born. When someone has an abortion, they are being selfish and caring for themselves more than others, but more than that, they are breaking one of God's commands and killing His creation. Life is very special to God - He loves each person that He created.
