Book Report on "Roaring Lambs"

"Roaring Lambs," by Bob Briner taught me to rethink many things in my life. It encouraged me to do so much more than what I have been doing. From the first page to the last, the words in this book encouraged and inspired me to impact the world that I live in and will one day raise my own family in.

Mr. Briner started out by sharing some feelings that he used to have about Christians impacting the world. He wrote that he felt he was not really accomplishing anything with his job, but it was the different pastors, missionaries and evangelists that were changing our society. He didn't realize that he, as a Christian citizen, could have a huge role in that. This book was introduced with a promise to answer one question, "why am I here?" Bob Briner's reason for writing this book was to answer this question and to train people to become lambs that roar - Christians that change the world.

Eighty percent of the people in America claim to know Jesus, the Son of God. Then why do music, magazines, books and movies all point away from Him? This is because of what people do inside the church doors. They argue about things in the Bible - who understands what it really is saying. They don't pay attention and have a role in what is going on outside of the church. They run away from the entertainment and secular side of our nation instead of becoming a part of it and transforming our culture.

As soon as we become Christians, we become the salt of the earth. We are the ones that show people what new taste and flavor they can have with Christ in their lives. Also, when we are salt, our job is to get rid of the germs - we stop the spread of evil in the world. But more than just stopping it, we must replace that evil with good. When we commit our lives to Christ, we also become his sheep - one of the most powerful animals there is. When they are in the care of their shepherd, they fear nothing. They will do whatever they can, as long as their shepherd is with them. We have the greatest shepherd there is - Jesus Christ. And with Him we should be afraid of no one and no thing. We are powerful in Him.

There are many people out there today that are doing a tremendous job in preaching the gospel. But professionals such as James Dobson and Chuck Swindol primarily speak to the Christians. It is our job as lambs to be the salt of the earth and roar so that non-Christians can see the Light.

In his book, Mr. Briner went through two huge industries - movies and television, and gave his readers simple step by step instructions in how to impact these two networks. "You have not because you ask not." This is very true when it comes to the entertainment in America. If Christians asked more people to make God-centered movies and television shows, there would be more of those in America. One thing that we all can do is limit what we and our families watch. Production is based on the number of viewers. If no one watches the shows, they will no longer make them. This is just one simple thing we can all do to help change this area of entertainment.

God can use you to radically change the world regardless of what has happened in the past. No matter how many opportunities you have missed, God will continue to make it possible for you to do meaningful things. We really can do something about the world we live in. And we do this by being the salt of the world - stopping the spread of evil and replacing it with the Truth.
