Truth

Proverbs 12:19 says, "Truth will continue forever, but lies are only for a moment." There are two different ways to be untruthful - by telling someone a lie, and by living in darkness when you claim to know the Light.

A lie can be told by purposely misinforming somebody. When you do this, you are not being a truthful person. In Exodus, God commands us not to lie, so if we do, we are disobeying God. We also need to have discernment on what is going on around us, to see if it is truthful or not. Things may seem to be right, but before we believe anything, we need to listen to God to learn what is right or wrong.

John 7:24 - "Stop judging by the way things look, but judge by what is really right."

However, we need wisdom to do this. We need God's help with this, just as we do with everything else in life.

James 1:5 - "If any of you needs wisdom, you should ask God for it. He is generous and enjoys giving to all people, so He will give you wisdom." John 8: 31 - "If you continue to follow my teaching, you will know the truth and the truth will set you free."

First of all, we always need to tell the truth. Also, in order to tell if the things around us are the truth, we have to follow God's commandments and ask Him, then He will give us the wisdom and discernment that we need.

The main place to look to fill our minds with Truth would be the Bible. This book is filled with words directly from God. We all know that God is perfect, which means He cannot lie. Reading the Bible daily, and constantly filing our lives with God's Word will help us to walk in the Truth.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work."

Another way of being untruthful is to claim to be a Christian, but still live as the world lives.

1 John 1:6 - "So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness. We are not living in the truth."

When we made the choice to become a Christian, it is not just something that affects our eternity. It is something that changes our everyday life, and the actions and choices that fill those days. We need to always live for Christ, or we are being a false witness for Him. Christians, in today's world constantly need to be on the lookout for ways to win people to Christ. In everything that we are doing, we need to share God's love with anyone and everyone that is around us. When we are walking in Truth that is exactly what will happen.
