The following student report was submitted by Ambassador League Agent Erin M. during the 2007-2008 League.

Ambassador League Final Report

When I signed up for Ambassador League, I didn't really know all of the work involved, and when I found out how much time would actually be involved, I was stuck between not wanting to do anything and feeling refreshingly challenged. Sometimes, it seems as though people today are afraid to challenge young people. It's as if everybody is walking around on their tiptoes and are only worried about not offending you. SSI provided me with just the push I needed to get myself up and involved. Without SSI I don't know where I'd be today.

Ambassador League has definitely been a one of a kind experience. Some of the things I have been able to experience because of Ambassador League, are experiencing more about how the actual political system works, how to become more involved, and what the Bible has to say about today's leading issues. Overall, Ambassador League has been an extremely valuable experience that I will take with me forever.

One thing I value most about the overall Ambassador League experience, was the way I had to actually think. The answers to several questions, and God's view on several issues weren't just handed to me, I actually had to do research, and use my own critical thinking skills.

The concept of planning ahead, and procrastination was also directly brought to my attention throughout this ambassador league experience. At times, I would feel so motivated I would stay up all night trying to finish up one section and watching God's hand in several issues. But other times, I would put off and put off until I really couldn't put off anymore. I'm still learning, don't get me wrong, but the value of pacing oneself and having a true plan and sticking to it is something that I have definitely learned, and am continuing to learn.

Romans 5:1-5 is my "life verse" and I pulled these verses out several times throughout this past year, when I was feeling discouraged or wanted to quit working on the Ambassador League. "Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us." What these verses meant to me, was that even when the going seemed though, and it didn't seem like I could finish the whole program, God could help me through it, and I was actually going to get a lot more out of this experience because as I persevered through the course, I was developing character, and hope.

There are several routes I could take this final report, but the one I have chosen is this. Ambassador League has been a spring board for me to realize the potential that lies within every single human being. I've learned about what the Bible has to say, and I've come to the conclusion that every life holds the potential to make a difference in our world. Now wither it's a positive or a negative impact is up to that person. If we choose to live out God's values, we can truly be a positive impact in the lives around us. I feel that this Ambassador League experience has provided me with a core set of values, and the knowledge to go out and make a difference in the world, and for that, I thank you.
