The Merriam Webster online dictionary defines justice as: the administration of law; especially : the establishment or determination of rights according to the rules of law or equity.
"Better a little with righteousness than much gain with injustice."-Proverbs 16:8. It is better to win the right way. What good is winning if you are going to feel guilty for the rest of your life? If when you go to court, you pay off the jury or something like that you won't be able to live with yourself!
"Acquitting the guilty and condemning the innocent- the LORD detests them both."-Proverbs 17:15. This verse is proof that the Lord does not like corruption. That makes sense though, we all know what is right and what is wrong, so why don't we just make the right choice?
"When justice is done, it brings joy to the righteous but terror to evildoers."-Proverbs 21:15. It takes courage to do the right thing, but justice is the right thing, and as citizens of these United States we should be striving to not only do the right thing, but make sure that justice is served to the American people.
"We also know that law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious; for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, for adulterers and perverts, for slave traders and liars and perjurers--and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine that conforms to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me."-1 Timothy 1:9-11. There is a reason we have laws and punichment and arguably adequate enforcenment of those laws.
However in the real life case of Cody Posey justice was also served. I personally followed the Cody Posey trial very closely. My family and I watched his trial go on everyday for about a month. Cody Posey was 14, living with his father and step mother and sister on a large ranch. Several ranch hands testified to witnessing Cody's father beat him mercilessly with whips and whatever objects were lying around. Cody testified that his step mother attempted more than once to make him sleep with her. Cody shot his father, step mother, and his sister one night after being beaten. He was only 14. Cody Posey was sentenced to the custody of state juvenile authorities until he reaches age 21. Yes justice was served. However, three deaths could have been prevented if someone had spoke up.
Make yourself available to the people around you. Keep your eyes open and never look away if something is going on that is wrong. As Christians, we are supposed to try our hardest to do the right thing. If we speak up when abuse, or other negative situations are happening, we can save lives.
