Book Report on "Roaring Lambs"

In today's society we as Christians are living in a box that is not allowing us to reach out to others or others to reach in to us. By reading the Roaring of The Lambs I learned that it was evident that non Christians are treated as aliens in the religious world we live in today. We might not be aware of it but as Christians a majority of us believe that we are better then the rest of the population of the world. We believe we are doing Gods work; but after reading The Roaring of The Lambs it was revealed to me that we are not doing Gods work. We are not being the salt we are not heading out to the streets to save lost souls, we as Christians are staying within the confines of our churches. We are not being the salt, to provide opportunities for others to become more like us, we are trapped in a box. We are allowing Satan to take control of our generation.

Briner has presented and excellent case in his book Roaring Lambs, that Christians haven't cultivated the secular world with aspects of Christian media, art, literature publications, and movies. "What have Christians done to create phenomenal subculture media, entertainment, and educational system? What have we done to spread our salt in the political world? It almost seems as if we are creating a ghetto within the religion of Christianity.

I can easily relate to Briners theory, I can go throughout my daily actives and never see any aspects of my Savior Jesus Christ, unless I intentionally from my own salvation quote a scripture or sing a song in his praise. Conducting business or even gatherings where God has no presents, is extremely hard for me. I will usually, start by offering to say grace, at least I place God out and in the open during the meeting. Only taking the time to observe God on religious holidays and Sunday is not nearly enough praise.

Roaring Lambs, encourages Christians to become visible in their work for God and let their voices be heard by society. I also agree with his concept that too much time and energy is spent on pointing out the negativity of movies that are already out into secular population. I believe that our negative publicity only promotes more people to see the movie.

Matthew 5:13-14
"You are the salt of the earth and light of the earth" For Christians to be the salt Christ commands them to teach, his relevance, to demonstrate, his relevance, to live his relevance in every area of life.

This scripture happens to be my favorite scripture which I have based my life upon. I am pleased that the Lord has given me the opportunity to teach the word of God to my peers. I have written a Christian column for the past two years to give public school student's access to the Word of God. Every one of my columns are based on God's Word and related to teen issues that are happening today. We just went on the web serving every high school student in America at grtimes.com "Teens Talk".

Briner states that, "keeping Christ bottled up in the churches is keeping salt in the shakers and he does not go where we do not take him. We need to take him everywhere and display the deliverance and the relevance of his word in every aspect of modern life"

In Conclusion, this book was very informative to me because I am on the quest to become a journalist. I know now that I must be very intentional while placing a Christian perspective in my writings for secular publications. I can never lose my focus and perspective while on my journey and choosing my projects. I have already made sure with my current editor that my Christian perspectives are welcomed and will never be concerned.

I am still praying, but I believe that this book may have helped me choose if I will attend a Christian College or a State College. Well, I believe that there may be enough salt shakers already at a Christian College and they may just need that one dash of salt to start a bible study at a State College.
