Mission: Take Action - Volunteering for a Political Campaign

Tim Fair, Clinton County Commissioner

For my political hours I did a lit drop for Tim Fair who was running for county commissioner, and worked at a polling place near my area on Election day. I really enjoyed both because of the things I learned and I was able to do it with friends. Also it was very refreshing working for such a great guy like Mr. Fair.He is a very strong Christian and totally dedicated to everything he does.

For the lit drop We were campaigning for Tim Fair who was running for county commissioner. We went door to door and dropped literature off at people’s houses. It was very interesting the different people who came out and talked to us and the things they had to say about why or why not they would be voting or not voting for Tim Fair. We did subdivisions and country houses. In the subdivisions we would all take a row of houses and run from house to house and drop off the lit at the door, or if the people came out we would talk to them about what we were doing and tell them a little about Tim Fair .

Working at the polling place was the second thing I did. I worked at the polls in Dewitt Township. I worked at a couple different stations I worked at a station where we gave the people their ballots and told them the process of voting. After that I worked at the applications table where I helped people fill out an application and told them what to do next. This was an eye opening experience, because I never knew what all went into an election. The workers all have a lot of responsibilities to make the day go smoothly. The clerks and those higher up have an even more stressful day because their job is 10 times harder than the volunteers. Luckily while I was working everything went very smoothly thanks to everyone doing their part.

All together my political experience is something I will never forget. I wish I could have gotten even more involved with those running but I’m glad for the little I was able to do. As Christians we need to do as much as we can for those who uphold moral values and will be faithful to vote for the things we know God would want for us. Because if If we don’t, all sound doctrine will fail.
