Mission: Research - Homosexuality

God's word tells us in Lev. 18:22 that being homosexual is detestable to God. "Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable." Detest is a much stronger word than hate, it is closer to abhor and abominable. In those days 'to lie with a man as one lies with a woman' would mean certain death for both of them instantly, no questions asked. In I Cor. 6:18 the Bible tells us to "flee from sexual immorality, for you are sinning against your own body." God then commands us to flee from this sin and honor God with our bodies. I Cor 6:18-20 states, "Flee from sexual immorality. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body." God wants us to honor Him with our bodies and also to be holy, as He is. (Lev. 19:2 tells us, "Be holy because I, the LORD your God, am holy.")

As mentioned earlier, if one were a homosexual back in Bible times, he would be put to death, and that would be the end of it. Duet. 28:15-45 basically says you will be cursed, along with everything you do or touch… you will have many diseases and fevers that cannot cured, your land will be like iron and then it will turn to dust, you will be destroyed, your carcass will be food for the birds. If one doesn’t receive punishment in this life, he will surely in the next one. In the movie 'Gladiator', Maximus, commander of a legion of Roman soldiers, reminds his men just before going into battle that "what we do in this life echoes in the next."

There are some who wonder if homosexuals can be forgiven. The Bible tells us that if they are truly repentant then, yes, they can and should be forgiven. Luke 17:3 tells us "If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents forgive him." Romans 6:23 reminds us that anyone can take hold of Gods free gift – salvation. "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Eph. 4:22-24, tells all who have repented from their sins, no matter what the gravity of that sin is, how then to live. According to that scripture, we must "put off the old self and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness."

Homosexuality is detestable sin against one’s own body. Because of the blood of Jesus, anyone can ask God for forgiveness and it will be given to them, as we ourselves have been forgiven.
