Mission: Research - Sanctity of Life
Life is valued, protected, pleaded for, terminated and disregarded by humans. How many lives are ended in one day? Thousands? Millions? People die from disease, natural causes, accidents, abortion and other acts of violence. The self-centered nature of humans comes out in all people through our actions and thoughts. Some look out for number one, themselves and then treat others as though they were garbage. What a double standard! God wants us to follow the golden rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you", Matthew 7:12. To God each life is more precious than any other earthly possession. We should treat each person, especially those who aren't Christians, as God does.
Disregarding life has been a struggle for humans ever since the beginning. Cain took Abel's life out of jealousy, because Abel found favor in the Lord's eyes through his sacrifice, Genesis 4. There are hundreds of other examples in the Bible: Pharaoh and Herod ordered all the baby boys to be killed, Saul's (Paul) persecution of the Christians. Proverbs 8:36b says, "All who hate God love death." Man's sin nature and Satan's temptations draw us to disobey God. "Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world," 1 Peter 5:8-9. God punishes those who take an innocent life. He rewards those who resist.
One of the highest death rates in of our culture today is from the tragic act of abortion. Four thousand lives per day are lost to this legal murder in the U.S. alone. God's heart aches from this. He considers a child's life to be precious and the fact that we would take these lives, when we were once children ourselves, is shameful. Isaiah 44 and Psalm 139 say God forms, knits, and weaves each child together in the womb. It's an art or skill of God alone and He pays attention to every detail from conception throughout the entire pregnancy. Women have been blessed with the awesome ability to be able to reproduce a child in the IMAGE OF GOD! Women should consider that an incredible privilege and not abuse it. Even with this God given gift many mothers choose to take their child through abortion because it is convenient or comfortable for them. Many Americans have the idea in their head that we are more sophisticated because we don't worship idols or false God's. This is one of Satan's best deceptions. The idols we worship now is ourselves! Every time a child is aborted we destroy one of God's beautiful creations for our own comfort, ending a life just months after it started.
We as Christians must step up and take responsibility in the fight to protect life! The destruction of life will not just stop on its own; there is no sitting back and watching this one. We need everyone working to come out victorious. "But the people who know their God shall stand firm and take action." Daniel 11:32b
