Mission: Action - Letter to the Editor #3

Transparency in government is something that most people wish for but getting it to happen is the difficult part. Recently there have been several bills concerning transparency in government introduced in the Michigan Legislature.

A measure introduced by Sen. Wayne Kuipers (Senate Bill #382), would make the government show the taxpayers not only were their money is going but will force bureaucrats to tell us why the money was spent a certain way. The public will also learn who the money was sent to and the budget source of the funds. The way the government in Michigan is currently functioning, the elected officials have a hard time keeping track of where all the money is going. This bill will make it easier for them to see where money is being wasted and will make them accountable to us, the taxpayers.

I believe this bill will solve some portions of the financial crisis we are currently experiencing in this state. Give the government a reason to be careful how it spends our money. This bill deserves consideration.
