The following student report was submitted by Ambassador League Agent Luke W. during the 2009-2010 League.
Mission: Final Report
Ambassador League pushed me in certain areas to go beyond education and into learning. If it were not for the program there are things I never would have done.
Walking for 10 hours through the rain for a candidate in rural Tekonsha, Michigan was not very close to the top of my bucket list. However, that's really what Ambassador League is about – going into the world as representative of the next world. That's overstatement; a heathen could have just as easily campaigned in Tekonsha, but the sentiment stills rings true.
Volunteering at a breakfast featuring two former governors hits a little higher on the bucket list, but just as far off the radar.
The last set of volunteering hours took place at Youth Haven Ranch, a camp for underprivileged kids. When a person gives their time it should go to God.
Reading books on apologetics also helped to form important foundations for living. Christians are called to be educated ambassadors. 1st Peter 3:15 declares:
"But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have."
Understanding how we fit in God's world determines everything for our existence. C.S. Lewis said that good philosophy must exist if for no other reason than to answer bad philosophy. Understanding our faith, we can communicate it. When the Word of God goes out, it will not come back void.
Norman Geisler's Why I am Christian puts forward a vigorous apologetic. The God who laid down the moral law also created the natural law. The God who is inerrant gave us a perfect scripture. Sometimes there are certain attacks of man that must be put down by the reality of the truth. Why I am a Christian identifies many of those areas and deals with them.
Lifeviews by R.C. Sproul takes a much more metaphysical approach. Sproul identified many of the pervasive and godless worldviews today. Christianity is the only worldview that can be scrutinized and withstand every weapon forged against it. As such, the Christian can have confidence in the fields of art, science, literature, economics, and government.
Roaring Lambs, authored by Bob Briner, offers an indicting call to enter the world. It's a call to not only further the kingdom of God as it is in heaven but also to further it on earth. Shaping the culture is necessary to shape minds of the people.
Bringing this generation into conformity with the God of eternity is the point of everything. We are His representatives. Learning His word and understanding His world equips us to be His ambassadors. The ultimate source for all the truth comes from His word. As we represent Him, we must do so in truth. When the world sees His truth they have only two options: accept it or reject it. When the world sees His truth, we have done our job.
