2006 Banquet - Keynote Speaker Richard Thompson

What an exciting evening as nearly 450 people gathered from throughout Michigan to hear Richard Thompson's challenging message, "Dare to be a Daniel."
The Rochester College Choir blessed us with several beautiful a capella selections.
The Keynote presentation by Richard Thompson was a passionate call for Christians to be aware of the critical issues of our day. We were gratified by his strong appreciation for the the work of SSI as we seek to raise up a new generation of "Daniels."
SSI Advisory Board Member Betsy DeVos presented a moving tribute in honor of Marie McNulty and Dorothy Evans, who were both long-time friends of the ministry.
Dick DeVos, who stopped by as he put it, "To pick up my wife Betsy," offered his greetings and asked for everyone's prayers - especially for his children - during the final weeks of this grueling campaign for Governor.
Sheriff Mike Bouchard, who is running for U.S. Senate, also made a surprise appearance and shared his strong support!
SSI Alumnus Jonathan Williams, who attended SSI three separate years as a high school student, and now works as a policy analyst for the Tax Foundation in Washington, DC. spoke of the influence of SSI in his life!
Seven outstanding students received awards for their hard work and dedication during the last year. Katie Berkompas, Amanda Mitchell and Katie Mullin qualified as official members of the Ambassador League. Bethany Bennett, Daniel Rubio, Joshua Woolman and Paul Yaeger were presented this year's John Quincy Adams Scholarship Award.
The Silent Auction featured over 100 donated items. The SSI motto for our guests was, "Bid early, bid often!"
Banquet emcee, Randy Marcial surprised everyone when he presented his gift of $5,000 to two families in recognition of their dedication and sacrifice in their families and the work of the ministry. Richard and MaryEllen Cross, and SSI's very own Jeff and Jennie Visscher.
Thank you to everyone who made this event a great success!!
