Another Great Banquet


From the opening remarks by WJR’s Frank Beckmann, to the powerful testimonies by SSI alumni and parents, to the deeply moving personal story of Rick Santorum, this was definitely an evening to remember. Nearly 500 people gathered at the San Marino Club to show their support for SSI, making this a wonderfully successful event in terms of size and funds raised. And judging from the feedback we’ve received, it was also an incredibly moving and inspiring evening as well for all who attended. Senator Santorum Hits It Out of the Park


Over the years, we have been blessed with some of America’s finest Christian leaders as banquet speakers, and Senator Santorum was most certainly no exception. It was inspiring to hear the story of his adventure in public life, which has included some “miraculous” political victories, a life-changing spiritual transformation in the U.S. Senate and the tragic death of his newborn child during the time when he was taking the lead in banning partial-birth abortion in America.

Great Lineup of Special Guests


In addition to the wonderful job as emcee by Frank Beckmann, we were extremely blessed to have as part of our program an all-star lineup that included, Lt. Gubernatorial Candidate Brian Calley, Michigan Attorney General Candidate Bill Schuette, Congressional Candidate Rocky Raczkowski, NBC TV 25 News Anchor/Reporter Dan Armstrong and Great Lakes Christian College President Larry Carter. Over the years, each of these individuals have been a great blessing to this ministry and we were honored by their willingness to help make this such a memorable evening.

As has been our custom during previous banquets, we were excited to show for the first time a new SSI Promotional Video. In years past we’ve looked at SSI through the eyes of students and college-age alumni. This year, we are featuring the reaction of parents whose children have participated in the program. Special thanks to SSI alumni Jeremy Barancik for another great editing job!!

Ambassador League Students Honored


Another stellar group of high school students received their awards for completing the Ambassador League over the past year! This year’s John Quincy Adams Scholarship Award winners were Phillip Hammersley, Jay Fort, Joshua Fort, Jonathan Mieczkowski, Kayla Murrish, Richard Peake, Luke Wagner, and Kelcey Wixtrom. Also, receiving their Ambassador League Awards were Joel Muffett and Christina Cherniausky. Congratulations to each of these young people!!

As you can see, this was a full evening with many inspiring moments. Thank you to everyone who supported SSI with your time, talent and resources. And thank you to our wonderful staff, who as always, went the extra mile to make sure that everything ran smoothly!
