2011 Annual Banquet Report

An Evening of Inspiration and Hope!

Three hundred and fifty people turned out for the SSI Annual Fundraising Banquet—a great crowd, especially considering that the Tigers were playing in game 5 of the American League Division that evening. This year’s event, emceed by Paul Edwards of WLQV Radio, featured a keynote address by Attorney General Bill Schuette, Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard presenting to our SSI Ambassador League Award winners, and the unveiling of our new SSI promotional Video. This year’s Ambassador League Awards were presented by Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard to Aimee Chauvin, Chelsea Hackel, Ryan Hoogmoed, Jonathan Melton, Marco Micheletta, Melody Mieczkowski, Andrew Montgomery, David Raney, Skyla Rienstra, Elizabeth Meli, Damion Stevenson, Joshua Shank and Grace Mieczkowski. David Raney and Elizabeth Meli presented outstanding acceptance remarks on behalf of all of this year’s recipients.

Attorney General Bill Schuette
and his wife Cynthia, who is a former SSI Board Member, are long-time friends and supporters of SSI. Bill took this opportunity to offer a heart-felt and passionate keynote speech that outlined his strong support for traditional and conservative values and highlighted the powerful influence of faith in his personal life.

SSI President James Muffett, who presented the mission and vision of SSI, explained that a big part of our success hinges on the ability of our small staff of 5 to recruit, train and deploy 349 volunteers who help create authentic and realistic leadership training experiences for 683 high school students each year. This Pie-Graph tells the story about how much effort goes into making an investment in the next generation!

We were especially excited to unveil our new three and one half minute SSI Promotional Video that captures the essence of SSI and communicates our program in a fast moving and inspirational format. We encourage everyone to share this video with family, friends, churches and schools.

We are so thankful to everyone who contributed time, talent and resources to make this event—and SSI—a great success! We could not do it without you!!
