OnSite Report

Franklin Road Christian School Onsite Report, October 25-26

More than 50 high school sophomores and juniors took the oath of office as members of the Michigan House of Representatives, embarking on an intense two-day immersion in basic citizenship and Biblical worldview instruction.

Most of these young people openly admitted that they disliked government and history, but as usual, the hands-on simulation grabbed their attention. Before they knew it, they were on a steep learning curve and-gasp-having a great time doing it.

I wish you could see the enthusiasm this program generates in teenagers. It is always rewarding to hear the glowing remarks from teachers, administrators and parents. Usually, they are amazed by the student responses and want to know how we do it.

Our formula combines a real-life leadership simulation with scriptural application. But to be successful, it also takes weeks of preparation, a commitment from the school to manage the logistical hurdles and 20 adult volunteers to help with the committee hearings.

Thanks to the staff at Franklin Road for making the necessary effort for a wonderfully successful program. And thanks to the community leaders, parents and other volunteers for giving of your time to help make this a life-changing experience for the students.

All of this is because we have a passion for the next generation. We know that they are created by God for this time and this place. They have a God-given destiny and purpose to fulfill. They are His Ambassadors who are called to represent Him to their world. Our job and our privilege is to light that fire in their hearts and give them the experiences and tools that will enable them to fulfill that mission.

- James Muffett, SSI Founder & President
