We were thrilled to travel to Adrian, Michigan for our third Onsite Program at Lenawee Christian. This was an unusual Onsite because the girls volleyball team ended up with a State Tournament game scheduled for the same evening as our final Legislative Session! Although we were glad for the success of the team, we really had to be flexible and push the event into the third day. After some serious rearranging we were able to pull it off! The students were great, and it was exciting when the local newspaper covered the program and wrote a wonderful article that appeared on the front page!
As always, the staff and teachers rolled out the red carpet for us. Special thanks are due to Gary Smelser, the government teacher who handled the logistics, Kris Yeutter, an SSI parent and teacher who recruited the VIP’s for the committee hearings, and Margie Dennis, the school librarian who allowed us to use the whole library for three days. Our VIP’s included Steve May, Lenawee County Drain Commissioner, Jeremiah Hodshire, Hillsdale County Undersheriff, Jim Koehn, Adrian Township Supervisor, and Barb Mitzel, Adrian City Commissioner.
We are especially thankful for the generosity of the Orville and Ruth Merillat Foundation for their strong support of Lenawee Christian School as well as the mission and vision of SSI!
