OnSite Report
Our fifth Onsite of 2011 was also our fifth time working with Lenawee Christian School—thanks to the wonderful generosity of the Orville and Ruth Merillat Foundation. This is especially meaningful because the early support from Mr. and Mrs. Merillat was a big part of launching SSI over 15 years ago. And now, we are privileged to continue investing with them in the next generation of students.
Lenawee Christian and homeschool students joined together for two days of intense learning and spirited debate. We were joined by twenty local community leaders serving as VIP’s for our Committee Meetings including the Mayor of Adrian, Township Supervisors, City Commissioners, Police and fire officials and a Lenawee Intermediate School District official.
During the Onsite, I grabbed a camera and spent a little time getting responses from the students as they were strategizing about the legislation assigned to their caucus. In case you are wondering, all three of these bills passed on the House Floor during the Final House Session.
